Chapter 3: Ark of the Rapture

In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus described the events of the flood as a parable of the coming events to take place in the “last days.” Jesus said it would be as it was in the days of Noah.

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.

That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know what day your Lord will come.”

Matthew 24:36-42

Every aspect of Noah’s walk of faith and obedience is a foretaste of what we shall experience. Just as Noah prepared an ark – a rescue – from God’s judgment, so must we.

We are soon to be taken from this lost world in the twinkling of an eye. We are also told to prepare for His coming, and to be dressed as a bride in our bridal garments.

“And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly….”

2 Peter 2:5

Noah prepared an ark made of gopher wood which rescued the righteous from God’s judgment; it rose on the fullness of the “first rain.” It was called the first rain because until this time in man’s history, moisture came in the form of dew – it did not fall from the sky.

The flood was created by the “first rain.” Noah was a righteous man, and he symbolizes the righteousness of Christ in the last days’ believer.

Noah’s family represents the fulfillment of God’s promises for our loved ones. He, like you and me, was looking for the salvation of the Lord. He, like you and me, shared the truth with his loved ones, and they were rescued along with him. They received the promises by his obedience in telling them of God’s judgment on those who walked in unrighteousness.

The Ark of the Rapture is the Ark of the Harvest

Once again, the Lord is preparing an ark to rescue the righteous from God’s judgment – The Great Tribulation – which is to come upon the whole world; it will rise on the fullness of the last rain – the “latter rain.”

“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.”

Hosea 6:3

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh….”

Joel 2:28

The Bride of Christ is the symbolic counterpart of Noah and his family. Noah and his family were a remnant that entered an “ark” as the very “first rain” fell upon the earth.

And just as Noah and his family entered an ark and were saved, we who have entered into His bridal chambers and have embraced the tender, passionate love of Jesus our Bridegroom – will rise up to the clouds on the fullness of the “latter rain,” the fullness of God’s Holy Spirit to be poured out on all flesh in the last days.

Christ is the “ark of the harvest.” Christ is the “ark” that rescues the righteous remnant, the wise virgins – His bride – those who have oil in their jars, those who have washed their garments clean, those who are “looking for His coming.” They are the “dead in Christ” who will rise first, and they are those who are “in” Christ who will still be alive at the trumpet call of God – those who will rise to meet Jesus in the air at the rapture.

Do you see this remarkable parallel between the Old and New Testament?

The ark of the old covenant was a ship made of gopher wood, filled with a righteous remnant. The ark, which Noah prepared, was lifted to safety – they were rescued on the flood of the very first rain.

The ark of the new covenant is the BRIDE OF CHRIST… which once again will be made up of a righteous remnant: those who are prepared as a bride for Jesus. His bride will also be lifted to safety. The bride of Christ will rise up into the clouds on the flood of the “latter rain.”
