I would like to quote my friend Trudy’s “Warfare Prayer” that she used against the enemy:
“Father God, I offer up this property to You; this home, this land and its residents. I declare Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of this household. I dedicate and consecrate this place to You and You only. Cause this place to be a holy ground. And, Satan, by the authority of Jesus Christ and His blood, I declare that you have no place here. I take authority over you through Jesus Christ and His blood and command that you leave this property. I command that you take all of your demons and spirits with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Demon of alcohol, be gone, in the name of Jesus Christ. Spirit of addiction, spirit of spiritual apathy and complacency, be gone, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Spirit of defeat, of insecurity, of unworthiness, be gone, in the name of Jesus Christ and His shed blood. For it is written in God’s Holy Word, that whatever is bound on earth shall be bound in Heaven, so, Satan, I stand on God’s Word and bind you and cast you out in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and by His authority and shed blood. And, Father, I ask that you dispatch Your angels about this home—angels of peace. Lord, give us the strength to control our appetites and fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Cause our cups to overflow. In Jesus’ name we ask these things, and we thank You, knowing that You delight in helping Your children. Amen.”
Trudy became bold and confident in her stand, as she stood, prayed and believed even when it appeared that nothing was happening; but praise be to God, today we have seen him set free from the bondage of alcohol. You can only imagine Trudy’s joy when Bob announced to her that he would start going to church again. Bob is once again giving his heart to his Comforter and Friend. Thank you, Jesus!
So my desire is to encourage you to fight for those you love in whatever areas they are bound. Speak defeat to the enemy with the Word of God just as Trudy did. Find the Scripture verses that apply to your situation and speak them to Satan. Watch him flee. You may have a tremendous battle depending on how long Satan has had his hook(s) in them, but Don’t Give Up! When you get weary, ask the Lord for strength; ask Him for encouragement, and your faith will grow stronger as you watch the mighty Hand of the Lord on your behalf. Tell Satan:
“I don’t come with a sword or a spear, but I come in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of His people, whom you Satan have defied; and the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lords, and He will give you Satan into my hands.”
I Samuel 17:45 & 47
Oh yes He will. STAND FAST, HOLD YOUR GROUND. When you’re weary, call a friend who knows how to do spiritual warfare and have him/her stand with you. YOU CAN MAKE IT, for indeed the battle is the Lord’s!
I could give you many more testimonies of all that I have seen God do as a result of speaking defeat to Satan concerning the members of my family, including my dad I mentioned earlier. My dad, who had been bound by Satan all of his life in the areas of alcohol, perversion, lust, anger, violence, profanity, cigarettes, etc., was supernaturally delivered by the power of God as a result of binding the power of the enemy. When my dad died at 77 years of age, he was gloriously free and was experiencing a beautiful relationship with Jesus. He even had a vision of the Lord protecting him from Satan. For the first time in 40 years, I was beginning to have a real father/daughter relationship and to finally have the opportunity to get to know my dad. Thank you, Jesus, for one more lost sheep who was found.
If you are one called to walk alone, there will be no heart’s cry for your mate. There are many called to walk this walk, even as the Apostle Paul, as they have learned that their happiness, joy and satisfaction is the Lord Himself, and they yearn for the only One who can bring this ultimate and complete fulfillment.
“You have ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; you have ravished my heart with one look of your eyes.”
Song of Solomon 4:9
That is the heart’s cry of our Lord to His bride.
“He knocks, saying, “Open for me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one…Rise up, my love, my fair one, and Come away.”
Song of Solomon 5:2 and 2:10
We also remember that when the disciples were talking to Jesus concerning all the problems people experience in their marriages, they asked Him if it would be better to never marry.
“All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”
It is unfathomable that our God desires this incredible love relationship with us, but He created us for this very reality. The God of all creation who had created multitudes of angels before us—we wonder why did He create us? Genesis 1:28 succinctly informs us, “Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
It is obvious to me that God wanted companionship and love from those He created—those who would have a choice in the matter—those who would love Him or deny Him. What greater love could He receive than to receive love from those who had to walk in faith to even know that He exists and to love Him even when life’s cruel circumstances could not be explained to each one’s satisfaction. What greater love than one who loves even when his/her heart hurts, when nothing makes sense, but one says even as Job:
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”
